Josep Sabaté has a Forest Engineering Degree (2012) from the University of Lleida. His degree dissertation analyzed long-term morphological changes the lower River Ebro. In this thesis he performed a historical reconstruction of the morphological conditions and riparian vegetation through aerial photogrammetry. Results were correlated to changes in flood frequency and magnitude attributed to dam construction in the basin. He is now undertaken a master in Spatial planning and environmental management at the University of Barcelona.
He is working as forest engineer at the Natural Park of dels Ports since 2006. Main tasks are related to forest management and planning of the protected space. It also participates in various projects of habitat and species conservation. His current interest is on the applicability of GIS and digital photogrammetry in the characterization and evaluation of Mediterranean river systems.
